There is a methodology that unifies all the production chain used in additive manufacturing, not only regarding the workpiece design and processing strategy, but it also concerns the choice of the used materials and their adaptation to the chosen process, and the required post treatments to make the product’s material meet the targeted quality, functional performance and life. In this presentation, Dr. Vladimir V. Popov explains the different steps through which the materials design for Additive Manufacturing goes, from pre-processing with powder blend design, to in-processing with EBM, SLM and binder jet, and finally to post processing with heat treatment, LMI and sintering.
The objective of the webinar «Additive Manufacturing @ UC» is, in first hand, to report latest developments and advancements on Additive-Manufacturing (AM), just by inviting a collection of well-known researchers in the area. In second hand, the event will also be the start of regular talks on AM, introducing, almost in real-time, current-reports on the subject to constitute a good source of information on latest developments and trends.
